These are notes to myself. The thing is I read a lot and am afraid of losing touch with my own ideas. Then write down some to get back to them every time I mess up learning.
1) Teaching English is difficult. Any other circumstance is a place, manner or time. In other words, is teaching the subject worth talking. Everything else is it available online and free.
2) The time it takes is an excuse. Few things are not done because of time. (Of course I need more time to explain those few things. Suffice it clear by now that time is money and teachers need to work for a living).
3) Technology in the classroom can be an intangible. Or not. If it is a object is there and needs cleaning, probably not that enhances learning, but it consumes extra time and need integration. Good use of technology in the classroom is transparent and interlaced.
4) Of the transparency derives authority. Caution: not because I say so. I speak of transparency about the processes. The posts that tell how is that right now you're developing ideas and action. If you post later, that often has more value as history or (self-) marketing.
5) Motivation is a drug. It is a short-term goal. Requires to work more and more by the teacher only to maintain motivation (see # 2 above). Better to focus on the mission. Bring on people being "addicted" to learning and its process, its autonomy. There are intrinsic reasons why learning is enjoyable, meaningful and effective in the long term.
6) There are no recipes for how to do it. There are purposes. The valid question is not how it is done but to what effect is original. We must also make room for the unpredictable, if it is significant to take place in what we do.
7) Better to be alert to the use of the word "enhance" when applied to learning. Stay tuned to puddle on the highway. Old things, even if made online, it remains the same, old stuff.
8) Have contacts online, do not imply that they are collaborators. On the other hand, work together and not required to sit face to face. Anything in between is ambiguous. Terms such as "My Contacts" and "work" sometimes need to be clarified. There are a good use for a blog.
9) The standards or measurements best practices are applicable when things can fit into a pattern. When educators say that creativity is one of the "new" skills needed in the XXI century, we must accept the limitations imposed by the search for standards. Assessments and standards are cousins.
10) There is doubt, question and never, never take things for granted. This applies, in particular, to everything I wrote above.
More distilling in my mind now. I prefer to pause and wait some the feedback from you.
